Snake venom worth Tk75 crore seized: 6 arrestees remanded

A court has placed six members of an international racket dealing in snake venom, who were arrested with snake poison worth Tk75 crore from Dhaka’s Dakshinkhan area, on three-day remand each. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Moinul Islam passed the order on Friday when police produced them before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.
The arrestees are – Md Masud Rana, Md Sofir Uddin Sanu, Md Tamjidul Islam, Md Alamgir Hossain, Firoza Begum and Asma Begum. Earlier in Thursday tipped off, the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the six people with 8.96 litres poison worth Tk75 crore from Dhaka’s Dakshinkhan area. Later, RAB-2 Naib Subedar Bayezid Hossain filed a case against them in this regard.
