One-day-old baby tests positive for coronavirus in Chattogram

Now, a one-day-old baby has been diagnosed with coronavirus in Chattogram. The newborn’s sample was tested at the lab of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) soon after his birth and the result came out positive. Baby’s mother had earlier tested positive for COVID-19. Both the mother and the newborn have been kept at the isolation ward of Chittagong General Hospital and their condition remains stable.
Physicians said special precautionary measures were taken as the pregnant woman had been positive beforehand. She was taken to isolation after she tested positive for coronavirus on May 20. The woman gave birth to the baby boy through C-section on May 24. Newborn’s sample was collected within 24h hours and it was tested at the CMCH hospital lab. The result came out on Thursday.
