Mili needs Tk 70,000 for recovery

Rohim Reza, Jhalokati: Mili Akhter, a 4-year-old girl. Around 2 months ago, 10 percent of her body got burnt in fire. Mili is the daughter of Abul Hossain and Rina Begum of Kaivartkhali village in Rajapur Upazila of Jhalokathi. Father Abul Hossain worked as a mason and made the living. Abul Hossain gets destitute to arrange treatment for Mili. More Tk 70,000 is needed for her treatment, which is impossible for Mr. Hossain.

Mili’s mother, Rina Begum, said Mili gave an empty packet of chips to the kitchen stove on March 15 at noon. At that time, the packet caught fire and hit Mili’s body. It burns from the chest to the bottom of the navel. She was later rescued and taken to the Upazila Health Complex. But the doctors sent her to the burn unit of Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

“Mili has been undergoing treatment for about two months. The treatment has been carried out by borrowing Tk 60,000 from the people. But now we have nothing. Professor MA Azad Sajal, a physician of the burn unit, said that Milli has to undergo surgery. It will cost about Tk 70,000 including medicine. But after the death of Professor MA Azad Sajal a few days ago, other doctors advised her to undergo surgery at Mamata Clinic in Barisal,” Rina added.
