2 more die of coronavirus, 571 new cases detected in Bangladesh

Two more deaths from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been reported in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 170 in the country. Besides, 571 others have been diagnosed with the lethal virus in the country during the time, the highest in a single day. With this, the total number of positive cases climbed to 8,231.
DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) through online on Friday.

A total of 571 fresh cases were detected after testing 5,573 samples in 29 institutes including Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR) across the country over the last 24 hours, she said, adding that as many as 70,239 samples have so far tested. Meanwhile, 14 new people have recovered from the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 174, the health official said. The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after detection of the first COVID-19 cases.

The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 210 countries and territories around the world and 2 international conveyances. As of Thursday afternoon, a total of 3,308,901 people have been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 234,139 while 1,042,995 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
