Bangladesh’s tallest man Jinnat Ali dies of brain tumor

Bangladesh’s tallest man Jinnat Ali has passed away after a long battle with brain tumor. Jinnat Ali, 24, breathed his last while receiving treatment at the neurosurgery department of Chittagong Medical College & Hospital (CMCH) at 3:00 am on Tuesday. He was known as the world’s second tallest man with the height of 8’6”.
Ilias Ali, elder brother of the deceased, confirmed the death.

He had been suffering from brain tumor, diabetics and various hormonal complications for long. Dr Noman Khaled Chowdhury, professor of the hospital, said Jinnat Ali had died before he was brought to the hospital. He was first admitted to the neurology department of CMCH on Sunday. Later, he was placed on life support at the neurosurgery department of the hospital as his condition worsened, the Dr added.

Jinnat Ali was born in 1996 in Cox’s Bazar. He was known as one of the world’s tallest people among the survivours. His height was 8 feet 5 inches. He was the son of Amir Hamza and Shahpuri Begum of the village of Gorjnia’s Barabil of Ramu upazila.

Jinnat Ali’s body suddenly started to grow abnormally at the age of 11 and continued to grow further with his age, according to family sources. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave financial assistance to Jinnat Ali in October 2018
